DON'T buy domain name at Globat.com

Hi everyone,

I bought three domain names from globat.com about a year ago.
I transfer them to godaddy.com 2 months ago.
Today I get an email that Globat.com charge my account
with all three domain names renewal.($8.95*3)
After calling them they told me that it is not likely to get refund for it.

What a CRIMINALS!!!!!

How can they charge for me for the domains when They are not the registrar and they don't manage the domain name for me anymore.

So every one who reads this PLEASE stay away from Globat.com

They will steal your money!!!

Laszlo

Sorry to hear about your issue with Globat.

Did you follow the cancellation procedures after transfering them away? Most internet businesses charge recurringly and would only know not to charge you if you cancel.

You should get a refund though if they do not have the domain in their system.

Call your bank/cc company and dispute the charge.

Godaddy is great... if something autorenews and you did not want it, you can call in and get a refund. They are just cool like that.

Good call to move over to GD.

It's always better to buy domains directly from a domain registrar instead of going through a host - and I work at a host!

Yes, the problem comes with the policy of some hosts that resell domains from a big registrar. If you have some average knowledge about web hosting it might be better to keep your domain with any big registrar instead of your web host. Note that keeping the customer's domain is one of the techniques the hosting companies are using while trying to keep their clients. It is highly unfair but sometimes it happens. So, read carefully their polity before signing up.

You better ask for your money, they should issue refund!

Good Luck!
A.

Go for Namecheap or Godaddy to register your domains, it's wiser to keep domaining and hosting things separately.

Angry

Use a reliable discount registrar that is not tied with your hosting provider. Godaddy, or its lower priced resellers such as GoInternetDomains, have the best deals on domains, excellent service and domain management tools. Don't use them for hosting however, as there are better deals elsewhere or "not as good deals" that offer better development tools for novices (example: yahoo's domain prices are high, but with their hosting packages they offer excellent WYSIWYG site building tools and ecommerce functionality for novice to intemediate web designers).

I have to say that one bad review doesn't mean that service is bad.

I agree with you. I was once globat customer, and I never experienced those money issues with them. I canceled my account with them cause I closed my business and never use the site that time but I do still have a personal account with them. The agreement with them is very clear, if you have an account online especially on a web hosting that uses your credit card you have to be responsible on checking your email accounts because it is you means of communication in terms of marketing, billing notices and others. If you decide to cancel the account you have to inform and assure the department that you really cancel your account, then you ask for a reference number for a cancellation so that when you checked that this company still charges your account. Its time that you complain that this company was illegal.

Hope this advice helps.

There are so many fraud cases with domain registrations. I recently received a "renewal" letter from LibertyNames for domains registered with Enom. Quite funny to say the least.
