E-mail hosts
Hello,
I administer a web server for a number of our clients, but invariably when they switch from their current host to us, they need a new home for their e-mail. Since we don't do e-mail hosting in-house, I've been looking for someone to partner with who has reasonable rates. Can anyone suggest a good standalone e-mail host? I was hoping to find someone who can do accounts for around 1 USD / user / month. Thanks a lot! -Cliff |

can you not afford to get your own server for mail?
with $1 setup fees at the moment, maybe it makes sense to get a $99/month server at rackshack??? how many users are you looking to do? get more than 99 and you are into profit ![]() |

Well, right now I don't really have any hardware that I can use as a mail server and I don't want to install it on any of my other webservers.
After doing a lot of reading, I've found that configuring sendmail isn't very trivial, plus I'd have to spend time figuring out things like SpamAssassin and other antivirus software and that would probably take a little more time then it's worth... unless you can point me to some good tutorials ![]() One recommendation I have for people out there needing only basic e-mail functionality (POP and web-based e-mail) is www.catalog.com. Thanks your post... let me know if you know of anywhere I can find good tutorials for setting up my own e-mail server... thanks! |

Check out http://powermail.uni.cc (A spin-off of our hosting company)
We should be able to work something out. We can take mail from your clients domains if you can modify the MX record to point to our server. We can customize mailbox size for better pricing. We could also set you up with a mail only hosting account where you could log in and control the e-mail functions yourself. Sincerely, Jason Lee

You should get a server from RackShack.
Since you said that you do not have the time to learn Sendmail, there are thrid party "server managers" that will configure it for you for a low fee. If things go wrong, pay them to fix it. It is not that money, and you usually get a few hours of work a month, more then enough time to setup sendmail and fix it if there is a problem. It will be much cheaper in the long run if you happen to have a lot of clients, since most people that responded seen to have a dedicated server, and they need to charge more to make money off of you. Bypass that charge by doinf it yourself. |
