E-mail processing

I have a domain name that I own and I would like to offer email accounts to some of my employees. Of course I want it to be <ID>@my_domain.com

I checked google's gmail but that is too expensive. They wanted something like $5/month/ID. Are there any affordable options out there so I can offer email accounts with some spam and junk mail filtering.

What are you needing as far as requirements? If you have a domain name, why not just get a hosting account. You can get these for as low as $3 or $4 per month from a reliable company. With this, you can get the ability to create email accounts, many times an unlimited number.

Is there something specific you're trying to do with the domain name?

No specific requirements except spam and virus filtering. I will check with godaddy but I wanted to know if there are any other options available. godaddy has plenty of money and I want to help the small business person.

GoDaddy are OK for domain names (but that opinion differs between different people) but they are almost universally recognised as being not-that-good for hosting. I'd recommend going with a different place that specialises in hosting more. There's literally millions of places that you can try, so start searching for what's around.

One thing to, don't ask for suggestions of good hosting companies on here... all you'll get is 100's of replies from people trying to push their own services or affiliate programs.

I agree with Catacaustic. I would not use GoDaddy for hosting (and personally not even for domain registration). But there are thousands of companies out there. Some more well known than others... some that are complete cr@p.. some that offer something, but don't always deliver... etc.

Just do your research, and chances are that just about any hosting company will offer you enough email accounts for what you're wanting to do.

Also, as mentioned, I wouldn't ask on here. Too many people will start spamming all sorts of links and companies. If you need help finding a reputable company, just msg me.. (I don't advertise the company I use, so I'm not going to try and link you to mine...)

if you only need it for email hosting, either get just email hosting, but webhosting will serve the same, you also said it doesnt need virus or spam scanners? so do you plan on sending spam? if so nobody is going to help you... and you would shortly be kicked of the server...

I did go do godaddy for hosting and I have to give them an A+ for the processing of invoices. But in terms of answering basic questions they get an F. I tried to take advantage of their "concierge service" and I got stuck in an endless loop of people not understanding what a domain name server is. Finally I cancelled my order.
