Angry Bounceweb = Thieves

The person who runs this site is a thief.

I ordered a hosting package idea that these people would stick to the promises on their website.

This is directly from their website:
"We promise to give you the best support available on the Internet, and keep you satisfy."

This is false advertising. The guy who runs the shop there (and I believe there is only ONE person running the whole show) only answers his email ONCE a day.

The kind of answers I got were, "that's your problem" and "you need to do this...”

Needless to say I only had this account for three days.

I asked to have my account cancelled and wanted my money back. They guy wrote back and said it would take 15 business days to happen. 15 days is up and the guy is still not returning my money. I sent him an email and he said it was my problem he was not returning my money.

BOUNCEWEB.COM STEALS MONEY!!!

This guy should be in jail…

Also,
I have talked to a few people who have tried to contact him directly (because he is stealing their money too) and they say his whois information is false!

You should have figured that when viewing his site. No mailing address posted - no phone numbers - no legal entity for an actuall company - using paypal as the payment gateway - no SSL connection on signing up - no SSL certificate - hhhhmmmm, you asked for that.

He is sporting an intel and cisco logo on his site - report the site to them and tell them your situation - I am sure they would appreciate you notifying them of this...

gee thanks.

I hope you are never screwed out of anything... If you are, don't look to me for sympathy.

It was a lax in judgement.

No - not trying to make you feel down or anything, just giving you the knowledge you need when shopping around for these things in the future and hoping that my words will help prevent this in the future.

Look at the things I posted about in my reply - keep those in mind when purchasing services from other sites...

I know... I feel pretty stupid. It was a lax in judgment.

My goal was really to alert anyone who would happen onto this posting that they are a fraudulent company.

I have filed a complaint with their service provider and with the BBB.

I just wanted to warn other people…

Thanks for your suggestions.

Paypal

using paypal as the payment gateway

I beg do differ on the fact that using PayPal should be a reason not to sign up with a web hosting company. Many large IPP's use PayPal. When you make a payment through PayPal is it not secure? Was this person or company a verified member? I guess I'm just putting my two cents in, because I use PayPal as a payment gateway.

I agree. When choosing a host, I think it is important to look at how long they have been in business, the versions of the software they are running (Apache, PHP, Perl), if they have multiple ways to contact them, and if their security certificates (if any) are valid. I think using PayPal should not be a deciding factor. And it shouldn't matter if they are verified or not- if they aren't then they won't be able to accept your payment, so you'd come out ahead, at the least. I think PayPal is actually an advantage because it means they have no access to your personal/credit card information, whereas they would be able to should they use their own payment processing system.

A provider with there own certificate is the only way you can verify who you are doing business with. Paypal can't provide that.

The only place that my clients see https is when they log into their control panel and access their services, which is a standard feature in the Ensim software. This of course is to protect sensitive information regarding their web hosting package. Do I really need it when they go to my purchase page, before they click the PayPal button just to prove I'm legitimate, or my entire site for that fact? PayPal is acting as a payment processor on our behalf using their certificate. Why should I pay $50.00 to $100 US a year for basic ssl certification?

Sites that use the SSL protocol use it to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers. If I'm not processing credit cards, I really don't need it, and it wouldn't do anything for people to see it either.

A certificate certifies that you are who you say you are. Nothing more, nothing less. If you think that using Paypal gives the same level of trust, then you are seriously confused. Of course, if people are willing to pay that way, then they are seriously confused as well, and ripe to be made into marks.

I guess 20,000,000 people are confused then, because that’s how many people trust and use PayPal.

I never denied that certificates prove who you are, just that I don't need one because there no transactions taking place on my site that merit having a certificate. I don't need certification for people just to view my site. If they want proof of our legitimacy, I can always let them login to a demo control panel. This is where they'll be prompted to accept our certificate.

Take care

This doesn't prove you are who you say you are. If they are prompted to accept, then it means your certificate is NOT signed by a trusted CA.

And just because 20 million people do something foolish, doesn't make it less foolish than if only one did it.

1- The security certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust. View the certificate to determine whether or not you want to trust the certifiying athority.

2- The security certificate date is valid.

3- The name on the security certificate matches the name of the site.

Do you want to proceed?

YES NO VIEW CERTIFICATE

I mean number 1 not 2 and 3.

Even if the certificate is signed by a trusted certificate athority you will still be prompted the first time to accept it.

You mean what about it? The date being valid proves nothing without a trusted CA signature. The matching of the certificate name with the site name proves nothing without a trusted CA signature.

Only if you have changed the default settings. In the default configs of every browser I've used, if a certificate is signed by a trusted CA the user is NOT prompted to accept.

HINT: That's what "Trusted CA" means.
