I am running microsoft Internet information services(IIS) on
windows 2000 advance server. I have a bought a single domain which i divided into multiple subdomains. mydomain.com www.mydomain.com myfriend.mydomain.com Now how can host my site using http://www.mydomain.com as URL and Home directory: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\mysite my friend's site using http://myfriend.mydomain.com as URL and his home dictory: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\myfrind's site? both on my computer with a single IP address. A second friend also bought the domain: playboy.com and pointed his subdomain www.playboy.com to my IP address. how will I also host him using www.playboy.com as his url and his home directory C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\playboy So here I have three URL s all pointing to my single IP address or to my computer on port 80. Do I need to install any stuff like "Active directory" "Active dictory" slows down my computer .so I don't like. |

no. you just have to setup multiple hosts in your IIS. Like right-click, "add host". and get your ISPs name servers point to your IP. Q: is this a hypothetical question? i want to say: "did your teacher ask you this and you canīt find out yourself?" or "are you self-studying MCSE and donīt have a clue about the WWW?" ![]()

Or use the pointer redirect on oour site.. if you are running PHP.
![]() Good example of what we are doing for some clients that request it. domain.com /home/user/public/ pointer.com /home/user/public/pointer/ pointer2.com /home/user/public/pointer_two/ While browser shows only the Requested URL. PHPMED |
