Hosting recommendation?
I'm going to be moving my site to a new host soon and would like some suggestions regarding hosts that I should consider, that would fit with the below specifications.
I am not looking for a dedicated server or a virtual server, but just for a shared plan. Price would have to be about $50 per month or less. Space: ~500mb Bandwidth: 400gb per month PHP 4 |

400 GB bandwidth, or 40?

400.
I looked around a bit and it looks like rackshack.net would be very good, except that we'd have to cut down on content on our site to get it under 300mb. 1t3.com and iicinternet.com have very attractive offers, however, there aren't any trustworthy reviews to go by for them. |

I've never needed a service with that much bandwidth so I sure can't recommend anything. If you haven't seen it, you might want to try a search on www.hostsearch.com.
Just out of curiosity, if you don't mind saying, what kind of site/content do you have and what kind of traffic? |

You should look for the company with the smallest additional/GB transfer amount, or start calling some of them and telling them what you need and see what kind of package they'll do for you -- most will work with you if they are reputable.

Our staff translates and edits manga (Japanese comics) into english which we release on our web site.
We have been using approximately 400-500gb per month with our current host which will be scaled down in the future (maximum usage of 400gb is our goal). There isn't any type of profit involved in our site, so almost all costs come directly out of our own pockets. We don't wish to have any advertising on our web site (which cuts into how much money we have available for hosting, but we stand by that). We recently started asking for donations from visitors if they wanted to help us out, and things are going rather well for that. We would want to stay within the allocated bandwidth amount as every company I have seen charges absolutely ridiculous prices for additional gigabytes of bandwidth usage.
