I now need a host...

Hi,

I got my domain name now, but I'm still using a crappy free host which has all sorts of annoying restrictions.

I did quite a bit of research for hosts, and this is the best one I found: http://long4net.com/

The only problem is that I cannot access the https pages on their site because of my damn restricted university Internet access. I can visit a lot of https sites, such as ones on amazon.com, but I guess not all https servers use the same port...

So... my question is, do you guys know any hosts which are similarly good to long4net.com? I want a host with PHP, MySQL, a few gigs of transfer per month, over 10 megs of space (yeah, I know, every commercial host has more than that - I don't really need a lot), and a low price - hopefully between $20-30 USD per year.

Do any of you have a suggestion?

I highly doubt you're going to find any quality hosting for $20-30 a year.

I run a webhosting company, maintaining servers etc is not cheap. I personally don't see how anyone could afford equipment, staff, etc off $2.50 a month but that's just my opionion .... good luck!

You should never trust a host the gives "unlimited" disk space or bandwidth. Because there is ALWAYS a limit to something.

That is so true, I cant stress this enough to people. Im a member of many forums, and al the time people posts about these great hosts with 'unlimited' bandwidth and diskspace.

Im not the kind of fella that tkaes the time to read Terms Of service policies etc. But when it comes to hosting, reading the terms is a must.
