Interland - anyone use them here?
Instead of asking who is good I'll ask if anyone as experience with this company.
www.interland.com They say they have more IBM servers than anyone. I used the find a server info on DevShed's homepage and found it to be not the best (not DevShed but the third party site). NEVER USE APOLLOHOSTING. I went to their site as it was recommended, AWFUL. My site was down for 4 days, it took them 3 to respond to my emails. If you have other alternatives you've used for dedicated hosting please let me know. Thank you so much. |

Finding a host is quite difficult and there really aren't any stand outs. I think this is a market that needs lots of mergers. Example here is what Interland says:
As the world’s number #1 hosting provider with over 7,000 servers under management, Interland provisions more hosted IBM xSeries dedicated servers than anyone else. I guess if this was false advertising the other hosting companies would be all over it? |

pretty much everyone claims to be number 1
![]() from Rackshack.net : "EV1Servers.net provides hosting services for over 17,000 Linux and Windows servers, hosting over 400,000 individual web sites." They are absolutely huge! |

The only thing they have to back up that claim is that they have more IBM xSeries servers than anyone else. Just using the most of one brand of server doesn't make you the biggest and the best. |

Then why everytime I go to order a server they always say they are sold out of what I want? They have 111 server available, and none of what I need. (dual Xeon with Raid for E-Commerce hosting for a client). Just look at what's available here http://www.ev1servers.net/english/all.asp pretty lousy selection right now. I use Interland's Self managed Linux for $80 a month and its been great thus far. Personally I am a fan of IBM's hardware and the fact I can pass on we host off of "IBM hardware" is a major selling point rather than saying "Some white box". But seriously, on Rackshack.net (EV1servers) I find their advertising to almost be false. Be sure to add in that 7% in sales tax cost when looking at the price of those servers. However, I do like their $5.42 domain names and $25 SSL certs. What I really would like to see is someone come in and offer FreeBSD or even OpenBSD servers with the same BW and features of Linux servers (ie $100 - $350 and 500GB of bustable or 10MB/s datatransfer) per month. I know of Pair Networks' Quickserve.com, but honestly I can't justify spending that much more on BSD vs. Linux even though I perfer BSD for servers.

There's this reseller called Virox, he resells hosting and is accepting hostings. Go to virox.co.uk or contact him @ Magnis128 on AIM. I'm being hosted by him. He's in middle of creating a game-news website big as gamespot, so he's kind of busy I think.
