iPowerWeb, ADDR opinions
Hello. I was one of the many freebie users of f2s.com before the "free" portion went away. Based on the opinions expressed here, I've decided to pony up a small cost for a hosting provider. I found two that look cheap and good, so far: URL and URL iPower looks like the provide a lot of bang for your buck and is the cheaper of the two providers. Has anyone here used them? What were your experiences?
I put ADDR.com up here because I've used an account with them in the past and was quite impressed with the utils they give you access to. (SSH in and browse the web with lynx! ) Any additional recommendations? Here are my needs: - SSH with access to common binaries like tar, g(un)zip, lynx, curl - php compiled with curl support - ftp access - CGI support - .htaccess file support for DirectoryIndex and possibly mysql-password protecting a directory - MySQL database. Single or multiple dbs a possibility. - Self administered pop3 email boxes with aliases and forwards, including a "catch all" address. I don't make a lot of changes, but occasionally I'll add an alias for a specific list. - SMTP access for pop3 clients - sendmail or other email gateway for sending mail from scripts - WebMail of some kind would be a plus. (Especially a solution where I can *delete* a specific message from the server while leaving other on it for pickup at a later time.) - SSL (shared or unique) is optional but something I may take advantage of in the future... Thanks! Nathan |
