How to move free host to self host?

    Hello,
With free blogging platforms your are limited to the themes, colors, and fonts that they provide you. However with self-hosted the opportunities are endless for the theme of your blog. You can pick from any number of pre-made templates. How to move free host to self host?

Its quite easy to transfer a site from free hosting account to paid hosting account. Most companies / providers these days do free site transfers for their new or existing clients which is a very great feature many website owners like to use.

What they do it ask you for your old account login details and then from there they make a back up of your server / account what not , now this is emails , files , data bases and domains. Then they go and upload all that information usually its a tar.gz file they upload it to the new host it unpacks itself and then from there you successfully transferred from a free to a paid or self host.

I think hes using blogspot or something similar where he only has access to the control panel of the blog and nothing related to the server.

Generally Paid hosts provide FREE Transfer services such as Reprise Host who provides FREE Migration with no hidden charges. So, contact your host for this and I hope they'll help you.

    Hi there,

    what platform are you using?

If you are usng WordPress.com, you should be able to just export your content (Tools >> Export) and reimport them into your self-hosted wordpress install (Tools>>Import).

If you are using blogger, there is a nice tutorial to do it: rtcamp.com/blogger-to-wordpress/tutorials/permalink-seo-migration/

All Paid hosts provide FREE Transfer services because you are their customer and no one wants to lose customers

Why do you SPAM the forum? "Self-hosted" does not mean what you think it means.

Which blogging platform you currently use? If you are using WordPress or Blogger, then it will be very easy to move to a self hosted WordPress Blog. And in my opinion, it would be best option.
You can backup your posts and simply take to your new self hosted WordPress blog. You might face some traffic problems but it will be fine after a short period.

A paid host will be happy to help you get your account migrated over from your free host. If you use WordPress as your blogging platform and you select a host that offer cPanel as your control environment then the move should be seamless and you will have so much more control and your options will also increase enormously.

I agree with Self-hosted meaning something else but what makes you think he is actually spamming? Is his company called Self-hosted or something?
