Multiple websites on the same account?

Could someone clue me in as to the reliability/feasability of having multiple websites on the same account. I started off with Featureprice with a package that let me have five websites on one account - they went under. I switched to another webhost with a simuliar package and they have been offline for about the last week, no contact from them and no way to contact them.

Are there inherent problems with these type of accounts. Is it better to have individual accounts?

Thanks!

I would recommend just getting 2 smaller accounts... That keeps things seperate. If you shop around you can find accounts very cheap so its really not an issue seperating them.

We have a plan thats only $4.99 / month

The best way to have multiple websites under a single account is to establish a *Reseller Account*.

You do NOT need to sell anything in order to have a Reseller Account, but you can do so IF you wish to.

With a Reseller account, your web host provides you with...
1- A special control panel for top level management of your domains. This is usually the Web Host Manager [WHM] panel.

2- Additionally, you get a separate control panel for EACH of your individual domains. Thus, if you have 6 domains, for example, each of them will have its own control panel, for a total of 6 panels. This is usually the very popular Cpanel.

Here are two superb web hosts that offer reseller packages...

AlphaOmega
owned by Danny Shurett
CredibleHost
owned by Bonnie Mackenzie.

These two hosts offer low-priced reseller packages. However, the best approach might be to send them an email with your requirements [disk space, bandwidth, number of domains} & ask them to quote you a price.

I have accounts with both the above hosts. My websites are non-profit [Bible teaching sites] -- I sell nothing, so I have no ax to grind.

I hope this helps. Shalom......bellgamin

Multiple accounts allow you to host more than 1 domain within your alloted web space. What this does is allow you to just deal with a single account and is usually acceptable to most users.

Now, if you want the power of TRUE multiple domain hosting, you'll need a reseller account. It does have its advantages, for example, we offer Fantastico to all users, but users who want to use it on their 2nd addon domain can't. It just won't work. Whereas if you had a reseller account it would work fine.

Hope that helps.

P.S. A host offering multiple domains has nothing to do with it going down . I guess it just happened to be a coincidence.
