Need help in hosting website

Dear All,

I need help in hosting my own site. I have public IP (202.xxx.xxx.xxx) provided by my cable internet provider and I have also registered a domain name (www.myname.co.in). Now please help me in associating my IP with my domain so that any one typing my domain name should reach to my IP.

I have 128 Kbps connection with Intel P4 512 MB RAM, please let me know how can I host my site on my Linux machines

Thanks in Advance

Does your ISP prohibit you running a server in their TOS? Do they block port 80?

Thanks for reply.

My ISP has given me the static IP and they do not block any thing. I tried hosting the site using apache but I am able access it using my IP only...when I type my domain name it shows page can not be displayed.

I highly doubt that they do no block anything. My cable services said the samething, but yet, they block port 25, 80, 8080...

Please double check with a port tester and let us know.

Here is a link that will definately help your computer/linux/server get live online.
