Trust me, you want limits on the amount of sites you can have. Think about it this way, if the host doesn't limit you and puts 15 resellers on 1 box. At 15 resellers with 10 accounts thats 150 clients on that box. Multiple that by 2-3 you get a large number of users sharing one box.

Lots of good hosts out their now a days. Only problem is they are mixed in with bads ones making it hard to tell which side of the fence they are on.

well.... this is really jsut a general guide/pointers that you should be taking into consideration while looking for a host/reseller

Data transfer
First of all you should try and work out what your own requirements as that is most probably going to help you out in determining the amount of bandwidth you require.

Also keep in mind that there is no such thing as 'unlimited' bandwidth, you can only have a certain amount of bandwidth alocated to you, if you go over that limit then you will definitely have to pay for it.

Technical Support
Only go for those hosts that offer prompt 24/7 all year round technical support. If you do not have a lot of technical knowledge yourself you do not want to be stuck when there is a server problem.

Security
IF you are planning to perform business related activities on your web site, then security is a big issue, you should make sure that your host uses the latest security techniques & softwares and regularly applies new patches.

Pricing
You get what you pay for, generally you should not chose a host on the consideration of the price alone, remember the cheapest or the most expensive does not necessarily mean the best.

Control Panel - Also most web hosting companies are not able to solve a control panel problem as they do not have sufficient knowledge about it, they just provide you with third party control panels like C-panel, plesk etc.
If your web hosting company is not able to solve any difficulties that you are having with your control panel that you are as good as gone.

read around in forums, search on google, look for their alexa and google rank.. they give you a fair idea of how popular a site is....
