Personal Web Sever -- Poor Performance
Hello, all.
I'm using Personal Web Sever as a testbed for development. I do not wish to publish these web-sites (I intend to use the PC for development with PWS in conjunction with ColdFusion Server). ColdFusion Server has not as yet been installed.
On a PentiumŪ III 600 MHZ with 128 megabytes of RAM, running W98 SE, however, and using localhost or 127.0.0.1, it takes about 30 seconds for a plain-vanilla HTML page, containg a single line of text for output, to be displayed! Uninstalling and re-installing PWS is to no avail. This problem occurs whether I'm connected to the Internet or off-line.
I also note that on another PentiumŪ III 550 MHz with 128 Megabytes of RAM, the same file takes 6 seconds -- still slow, but (barely) acceptable for my purposes. So I wonder if there are issues with the 600 MHz machine that I can overcome....
Can anyone help?
