Please help me choose a host!

I am just starting a web development company on the side. I have been doing web development for corporate for a few years and now want to do it for myself.

First, I need asp and windows.

Second, I need to know do I choose reseller account so that I can add my customer's sites?

I am really lost on how to begin and I am so tired of reading and searching please recommend some reliable, honest hosts that are affordable - since I am starting out.

Thanks,
Khollow.

I have a host!

I understand where your coming from. I started out with my web development company called C3Studios.com and used to use a host. I would recieve free hosting with these guys when I referred clients to them. I referred allot of clients.

Anyways I have my own hosting company now. It is called

Jet9 Hosting

I have a hosting plan for web developers. I will give you free hosting as long as you keep 2 clients with me at all times.

check out this page.

free web hosting

Or if you send a good amount of clients we can work out a deal, I can give you the signup fees I collect. Does not matter to me. Some of my plans come with message boards and shopping carts. So check me out.

hi,

i know that you must be really tired of searching all over the place fior answers to your questions... however there are a few hosting directories that list reliable and good windows hosts, if you wish to check them out then here are the links:

www.hostplus.com
www.hostsearch.com
www.hostbyte.com
www.findahost.smesource.com
www.askwebhosting.com

these directories do not have any exchange links, banners etc. and offer pretty good results.

You can also try out google.

Good Luck

Cheers,
Ashish

Yes it is per Day. Almost no one uses that much and is just a marketing trick.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I've just been alerted of the existance of this post and would like to provide my company's views on the matter brought up above.

Firstly, the poster (noellees1) is joint owner of stuckforhosting.com unlike his claims. Just check this thread http://forums.devshed.com/t183132/s.html which was posted 2 days before the above one if you want proof.

Anyway, since Noel brought up some serious false accusations against our company, I will clarify on some issues:

Noel was removed from our servers for attempting to breach the security methods we have in place. On a routine security audit, we noticed several failed login attempts to one of our servers through RDP. The user was trying to login with various usernames all related to their username on the servers.

On blocking this IP at the firewall, within a few minutes we were contacted by Noel about his inability to view anything on this server. Noel assured us that this was a mistake and partly due to his curiosity to see if he could access the server. He was given a warning and his account access reactivated because I believed him to be genuine.

Within 30 minutes from this warning, the same IP address started appearing in our logs with more failed login attempts. This time the login attempts were for accounts such as admin, administrator, freshlook, flh and other such accounts which were attempts to gain administrator access to the machine and could not be put down to a simple mistake.

On contacting Noel again he initially denied that his machine was involved, then quickly changed his mind when I suggested that the logs were being sent to his ISP to be traced.

Noel's site was suspended from our servers at this time. Nobody from our company has ever phoned Noel during or after these problems. Noel was never sent anything about payment because his account was not being removed for this reason.

The "hate mail" reference can only be true if you treat a C&D to be hate mail.

Anyway, sorry to everyone for bringing this thread back up, I just needed to clarify our side of this rather than having a one sided accusation against us.

Hey there,
Noel was a former reseller for WebsiteUnited.com until advancing to a dedicated server.

I recently spoke to this person, and I was told the entire business was sold to someone else.

And also, yes, Noel was the owner of stuckforhosting.com.
