Angry problems with cybertitan/lightspeedhost

believe it or not, my site has been down since tuesday, 29 jan. It is (was?) hosted with Cyber Titan (www.cybertitan.com). Their site was not reachable for a couple of days, then suddenly started redirecting to lightspeedhost.com. I've sent them 3 emails and posted messages on several web hosting forums and get no reply. Very frustrating! Lowsy customer service!

Anyone out there from CyberTitan? Anyone else having the same problem?

I got an email from them on 4 Feb. It said they had a server down and had been overwhelmed withemail and phone calls (duh) and that was why they hadn't been in touch. They asked me to send info on my account (hosting package, domain, etc) I don't understand that, perhaps they lost administrative data as well.

My site is still down. The payment just went through on my credit card so their billing still works ;-). I've heard the same thing from several other ex-clients of CyberTitan. Their corporate sites are down and someone told me the phone no longer rings. (used to be busy all the time)

Anyone have any ideas what to do (other than the obvious - move my site)

Hello.

Have you sent them the required info?

Have you also tried sending them an email or telling them to cancel or refund you the charge the did on your account?

Maybe they have a temperary situation, if so, you may want to stay with them and continue, as these may happen sometime and they get solved also.

Wink

Winnie,

While I certainly appreciate your suggestions, I have to ask:

1. Do you work for CyberTitan?
2. Is your brother the owner?

You may think that having a site down for 2 weeks is minor but I do not. You also seem to think that contacting them is easy, it is nearly impossible.

Thanks anyway.

Hello.

Heh, good questions. here is the answer:

1 : No, I don't work for CyberTitan.
2 : I never knew I had a brother hmmm

In other words, no, I was merely suggesting the fact that this might have happened, and you can either wait for them to fix it or start taking actions yourself.

One of the actions is chargeback on the last charge on your account. You can email them saying that either they refund you the money, or you will od a chargeback. If you don't hear from them in x days [fill x with what you think is suitable], do a chargeback, and move on.

Do you have your site backed up on your computer? I don't think I can recommend my own host company according to forum rules, but if you do a search on google for hosting, or somewhere like

http://www.hostspot.com

you may find something suiting your needs and budget.

Good luck.

Hello.

Had to come back and ask this:

Why did you ask about the brother? Couldn't resist and had to come back to know what this brother story is.

I live in Italy where nepotism is quite common. When someone is trying to promote/defend a company you start to wonder who they are related to.

Hi.

Well, I can't do anything about the "wondering" part, that is upto the person to decide whether they want to be suspicious at everyone trying to help them or not.

As for me, I work for the company in my signature. No relation to cybertitan/lightspeedhost, whatsoever.

And your reason still didn't answer my question about the brother part. Anyway, I don't need the reason, since I don't live and am not from Italy so the reason might not apply to me

Good luck getting your refund from them.

CyberTitan R.I.P.

CyberTitan was also hosting my website until close of business on Jauary 29, when I suspect someone at the Baltimore hosting facility kicked the plug out of the wall on his way home.

We did have ourselves a good laugh when the new LightSpeedHost website went up with the talk about reliable hosting and superior customer service. Meanwhile, we just got ourselves a new host.

On February 6 we received new account information via email. Great, but the control center still didn't work and we already had obligated to another host. The next day, we received a response to our first email to support@cybertitan on Jan. 29. Gilbert Huang said that he had sent out emails to everyone "several weeks ago" telling them that they would be moving the east coast data center sites to the west coast data center but that many people seem to have not gotten those emails. As a result of that, cybertitan was swamped with service requests.

Gilbert's story was quite different than the one we got from Chris. Gilbert's intimated that this was the result of a planned "move", rather than catastrophic equipment failure. Sounds like someone's lying to cover up the real story, doesn't it? The word "move" indicates the actual moving of something, not total annihilation of websites and accounts. A "cyber titan" who kept no backups of their own customer accounts?

Although we have sent them numerous emails canceling our former account and the new one they set up, we have received no response. Their website doesn't work anymore. Emails are returned as undeliverable. But none of this stopped them from emailing us an "invoice" for 3 months service commencing March 10.

There's some serious bull**** in the air at CyberTitan/LightSpeedHost. Run as fast as you can in the opposite direction and contact your credit card company to avoid additional charges for services not delivered.

Rest in Pieces, CyberMidget.com

Angry Problems with Cybertitan

Hi folks,

Like you I am frustrated over this whole thing. The 877 number on the February, yes, February "Billing/payment received" invoice is disconnected or no longer in service. So I did a lil investigating (that's how I found all of you) and through WHOIS database got an actual address and working phone number. However, all you will get is a recorded message claiming "Thank you for calling cybertitian networks, we are experiencing connectivity issues and do not have a time we can say the sites will be back up, but we are trying to get your websites up as soon as possible" yadda yadda. I left a message, though doubt they will call back. My IT manager at the office said they have no server # therefore we ar in deep water if we think they will get us back up. so as another said in here, contact your banks/credit card companies and have them stop payment or reverse the transaction. I have also printed all posts and will use them if need be. It is not easy trying to conduct business when your website is gone, does not give a good impression to your customers. please keep in touch!

Hi Tracey,

I hope you have found a new host for your site. I find it interesting that I'm not the only one who got billed for service during the down time and beyond. I thought that only happened because they actually opened a new account for my site.

The phone recording is also interesting because we were told that all websites they were hosting were erased, gone, lost, deleted. I don't know how they think they will "get your site back up as soon as possible" when all data has been lost. Perhaps you have discovered their only honest statement to date if we take it literally... they will get the site up as soon as possible and since it's not possible for them to get it up *s* they are telling people to just forget about ever having their sites back up.

All these chargebacks are going to have an effect on their vendor status with Visa/Mastercard, no? Heh, heh!

You're magic, can you saw them in half or something? I think someone already made CyberTitan disappear...

Cybertitan - Wire Fraud

Hello Everyone,

Basically there are no technical issues. Cybertitan did not pay their bills and had their server leases snatched. Meanwhile they have charged myself hundreds of dollars for services I have not received. I managed to get through and Chris told me that it will be refunded. That was weeks ago. Nothing happened. I guess we all need to get together and have criminal charges brought against these guys for fraud. They knowingly charged us knowing that they cannot provide the service. This is a criminal offense and not just a civil one. I go to San Diego every other week or so, If anyone here wants to hook up with me, or if one of you live in San Diego we can give more details for the complaint and police report. The San Diego cops/FBI will have no choice but to investigate if we launch a complaint. The bottom line is that these guys are up to no good and have betrayed our trust. Furthermore they are currently engaged in wire fraud as they knowingly took our money without any service or products rendered. maybe even the feds may take an interest in these guys.

All I know is that I have no more interest in any of their lies. I can't stand being ripped off or lied to.

Also none of your sites were erased or lost. It's just that Cybertitan did not pay their bill and they no longer have access to the server that your sites are on. I know because I was able to retrieve dozens of sites by doing a little investigation and getting some help from some decent folks.

Send me your phone numbers/contact details if any of you are interested in seeking justice.

Cybertitan Fraud Update

Hello Everyone,
Thanks for all of your emails concerning this matter. It looks like Cybertitan has told everyone a different story. Please forward me any corespondence that you may have had with them so I can show the investigating officer the large variety of conflicting cover stories they used to shield their credit card fraud scam. They have written about supposed "fires" and "server meltdowns" to cover their scam. It is looking pretty good thus far. Also include your contact details so the authorities can make a quick assessment after talking to a number of us.

I'm sending out a complaint to the San Diego Police and the FBI, as well as the California Attorney General. I'll be making a hand delivery to the FBI and San Diego Police. I'm going to send the package to the CAG via registered mail. I've already spoke with a field agent and he said that if the information I provide turns out to be "substantiated" (I know it will), the issueing of arrest warrants will occur rather quickly. I'm in the process right now of collecting information on the ownership of Cybertitan so they will know who to arrest.

Just to let you guys know, I am not going to back down from this, so any information you can provide will be most helpful to us all.

Best Of,
Don Steitz, URL
