I am looking at a ded server .. system is linux based, 333mhz 32mb ram... What kind of performance/throughput can I really expect (hits per day that is reasonable on this system)
BTW, my site is completely php3/mysql/cgi driven. Thanks Mike |

Don't expect to much on performance due to the fact that it's a 333Mhz w/ 32mb ram. You really need more if you want to support 5 or more hits at a time. Php, mysql and Perl (i think that's what you're referencing) take a good bit to process. Try running a few pages w/ perl on your local machine to see the performance you'll get.

I also think that you might want to upgrade to a better server. I have a 700 Mhz server, and its *sweet* :-)
If your looking for a dedicated server, Check out NetInfrastructure. http://www.netinfra.com They are great. ------------------ Regards, Jay A Betancourt Pixbay Web Hosting http://www.pixbay.net |
