How do you set Permissions either in UNIX or using a normal ftp client. I'm installing a message board like this one and I dont know the UNIX commands to set the chmod for the directory that I want to. If someone could help me out with this one, I would appreciate it.
Thanks

cute ftp can do that easily... I'm using it for 3 or 4 years already, and it's like a built in feature in my brain, I can't do anything without it
![]() you haven't said how do you ftp to your site, is it just the ftp on the start/run or some other client (normal doesn't make sense to me, are there insane ftp clients? ) |

I use Dreamweaver 3.0 most of the time to manage my site, but when it gives me problems I use cute ftp, but I only have the trial version.
do you know of a way to set the permissions in dreamweaver? |

no, but you should be able to chmod in Cuteftp trial. just right click on the file and choose CHMOD from the popup window, choose what chmod you need and click ok, that would be it
