Set up Home Web Server?
I have a spare PC which i would like to set up a web server at home. I dont want to use a hosting company really.
The spec is: 2.8 P4 1 GB RAM Windows Server 2003 IIS 6 I have built a site using .aspx pages, and now want to host it myself. I only expect upto max 100 hits a day. Obviously I haven't done this before!. what else should i be looking at before i host the site? like router, firewall etc..... a spec, or specific harware/software would be very useful, if anyone could point me in the right direction. Also, what internet connection would be a good choice? I currently have a 1mb DSL connection. is this good enough? Help would be appreciated. The reason i use windows software is only for one reason. Most large organisations today do not go with open source software.
Personly i'd prefer linux and php, but theres not as many oportunities out there as there is for microsoft products now!! thats life! so im learning this way and have knowledge of both. |
