Simple Web Server for Home PC? PWS?

Sorry if this is in a FAQ somewhere.....but,

I would like to set up a simple webserver on my home PC. I have installed the Microsoft Personal Webserver, but it runs incredibly slowly (30 sec to load simple page).

1) Is there some trick to speeding up PWS?
2) Is there a better program to use other than PWS?

Your suggestions to a newby would be appreciated!!

i think the PWS is working fine thr must some problem in u'r PC
like u'r RAM is less or something like tht
if pages r opeing it means PWS is working fine
or other solution is tht u can install some other Web Server on u'r system according to u'r Oprerating system.

Go to http://www.abriasoft.com . You can download their Merlin Server Software with no support for free. This will install Mysql, PHP, and Apache web server on your windows machine. It's fast and good.

If you want to get hacked then you can use PWS, best solution for that purpose. Infact if you decide to use PWS on the web please give me the address since I will have heaps of fun taking your computer and all of the hard drive contents down with it.

I would reccomend using something like Sokkit 3.0 (aka phpTriad) from PHPGeek http://www.phpgeek.com/. Its a very good PHP, MySQL, Apache package, or you can do what i do and download each seperately and configure them to work.

But all you have mentioned is using PWS so I would assume you are hosting a normal static webpage, if so best to download apache and install that by itself. Its really easy to setup and is much more secure than PWS.
