Urgent Enquiry on Webhosting

Hi Friends,

I am not particularly from the networking area. I am an Oracle DBA with some Sun Solaris experience.

I have an enquiry from a company to setup their website. They have a leased line to their office. They want to build a Linux Server at their office (behind a firewall), and use this leased line as an access point for all the clients from the box to the ISP (VIA INTERNET )

what are the steps needed? i have seen people doing this in my work , how do i do it?

1. get a domain name...... (i know where i can get it)
2. get a static ip (from where?????????????)
3. what do i do after that? under which DNS will this domain name and the static ip be registered? how do i do that?

in case of a webhost, i get an ip from the webhost and that domain name is registered with their DNS, in my case what will i do?

I can setup the entire website on linux and use it from intranet, now i want it to be available to the outside world (internet),

can any one help me? the company is kind of not into it, but they have the money , and i just want to make some, he he, so if u guys can throw some light plese

if you want a server outside the building (reccomended), I suggest:
1. Register a domain
2. Get a hosting package or a dedicated server. I suggest rackshack or webfusion.
3. Point your domain to their nameservers (hosting package) or to your ip (dedicated).
4. Setup required software on dedicated, although some servers come already setup.
5. Copy your website into the server.

Or, for inhouse hosting:
1. Get a server and install apache, etc.
2. Get a domain name and point the domain to your static IP (ask your ISP)
3. Setup the website and copy it to the server.
