Want a TLD
Hey, was curious as to how much a top level domain is running? If anyone knows where I can find out or how much one is about I would really apreciate it. I can't find much on google... :-/

You can't register TLDs at all. You can only register domains below one. For some TLDs, you can't even register SLDs but only third level (what are they called? "3LD"?). eg. ".name".

Yeah, if you are looking at getting something like yourname.yourext I have absolutely no idea how to go about it, but if you want something like yourname.com/ yourname.info/ yourname.biz then GoDaddy.com is a good place to go. They have quite a bit of resellers that do sell them for less though... I'll try to find some of them and add them later.

Who cares about godaddy. I said I want a TLD, if you post places like godaddy then it's considered spam (off-topic) and yes, it is possible to "own" TLD's. I just can't find a place that sells them..

A TLD will cost upwards of around $5000 im guessing. If it was really cheap then we'd all be getting them, but we're not so I'm guessing they're very expensive.
Contact the domain registration people (don't know the proper name) about it. |

Here's the details about last year's new TLDs:

Unless everything changed since then, you can not simply register a TLD. @monsterhosting: Or do you have different information? M. Last edited by M.Hirsch : December 13th, 2004 at 04:28 PM. |

Would be nice to get $45k for just considering something.

Yeah, no kidding. It would be hard work, but I think I would manage. Anyways, if anyone finds a way to get your own TLD for under 45K+ (a lot lower than that) PLEASE let me know.
Also, as for the GoDaddy Post you were so mad about, we are just trying to help out. We are not GoDaddy Spokespeople... just satisfied customers. |

There is a place that does it for $15. The only problem is you have to download some thing to view the domains.

Well, if you regard this offer, then you can actually register TLDs. Even for free. ...But noone but you will be able to see them ![]() I can offer you to run your TLD on my nameservers. Then every customer using my nameservers can use your domains too. Well, this is only 0.00000002% of the whole internet, but hey, you got your own TLD! For free! Thinking about it... I should take $10,- per month. If people are willing to pay for it, then I will be taking money for it too. j/k ROTFL... You aren't serious about that, are you? Download bind and set it up yourself.
