Web site on dedicated server- graphics on shared hosting

Is it going to help as far as server performance
if I run my forum website(MySQL) on dedicated server
and load member photos from cheap shared hosting?

Example:

http://www.dedicated_hosting.com/member_list.php

<img src="http://www.shared_hosting.com/user_123.jpg" />

Your forum pages will load quicker, but user photo's will be slower. It's a bit of a trade-off. It all will depend on how big the images are (file size), and how long your shared web hosting company will let you serve only images from their servers.

Thanks Catacaustic.
You mean they can cut me off for serving just images?
Is that like a common practise?

It looks like you are looking foк a load balancing solution, and it's better to use servers belonging to one host to load balance sites.
Is your forum that big? I mean why can't a dedicated plan handle all the requests to the server? What might be the problem? How many simultaneous users do you have on average and at peaks?

SOME do, but not many. I've got a small shared account with a host that checks what you're serving out and says that they'll cut you off if there isn't a certain % of HTML pages in there too. It's not common but does happen sometimes (mainly by hosts that use overselling), so always ready the TOS pages properly.

This should be a very rare restriction, 'cause I couldn't find anything like this in either Hostgator.com, Lunarpages.com or Webhostingbuzz.com TOS (I've chosen these companies as I hear bout them a lot in forums).

I can personally recommend Hostgator. They've been great for me so far. I haven't dealt with the other two, so I can't comment on them. And yes, it is rare, but yoou still need to read things carefully. You never know when they'll pop up.

This is something I've never heard of, if this thing happens, you may try image hosting to host your files.
