What's Next?
I've had only my domain name registered for two years now.
I'm about to finally choose a hosting company. Am I missing anything? Can I have my domain registered with one company and site hosted with another company? What do I need to do to make it all come to together? TIA |

i was the same as you,
you can host your domain with any company you want, if you can change your DNS settings if not im sure if you choose a good host they will change the settings for you so it points to their servers

You can use your domain with any host you just need to point it to the hosts nameservers ...
good luck and happy hunting |

that's it? it can't be that simple
So I just tell Go Daddy to point to 123-host-me DNS servers? What about pointing mydomainname.com to its host's numerical IP address, 24.22.09.44??? |

It's almost as simple as that, you simply get the name servers from your new host, go into your godaddy control panel and place the new names servers into your control panel. These changes take up to 72 hours to fully proagate throughout the internet but once they are done, your new host will be the one controlling your DNS entries. From then on Godaddy is pretty much out of the picture unless you need to update your nameserver entries (not DNS entries). Godaddy will then go forward and update the root DNS servers of your updated nameservers so everyone knows which servers to query when they get a request for domain.com... (if thats too confusing let me know and I'll try to explain it again.. )
