Digitalinet runs all of it's systems on FreeBSD. FreeBSD is an advanced operating system for x86 compatible, DEC Alpha, IA-64, PC-98 and UltraSPARC architectures. It is derived from BSD UNIX, the version of UNIX developed at the University of California, Berkeley.
Digitalinet has not one but two facilities across the Unites States. This enables us to provide our clients with redundancy.
FreeMont, California Facility: Our Califonia network consists of over 2.5 Gigs of internet connectivity. Sites hosted by Digitalinet are served via DS3, OC3, OC12, OC48 and Gigabit Ethernet connections to a wide variety of peer points and transit providers. Digitalinet uses Cisco Systems 6509, 7500 and 12000 routers to maintain it's connectivity. Peer points currently include the Pacific Bell NAP, Palo Alto Internet Exchange, Mae West and Mae West ATM. BGP4 is used for optimal route selection and automatic fail over.
McLean, Virginia Facility: Our Virginia network consists of redundant Cisco 12012 GSR routers connected to the Internet, the DCA1 NOC, and the IAD1 site, via multiple full-capacity 45 Mb/s DS-3s, 155 Mb/s OC-3s, 100 Mb/s Fast Ethernet, and 1 Gb/s Gigabit Ethernet lines; running the full BGP4 protocol, thus ensuring route optimization and redundancy.
Power Backup Systems
Digitalinet uses uninterruptible diesel power systems. Digitalinet also uses battery backup systems in addition to using diesel generators.
System & Network Monitoring
All services & servers are monitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week via multiple remote dedicated monitoring systems which can detect any problems & correct them without the possibility of human error. Digitalinet has a technicians available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to work on any problems.
