Angry I also am looking for a good cheap canada based VPS host
Why do I need a new host?
My sites were hosted with Blue Fur which was monsterhosting.ca when I originally started with their service over a year ago. I was fairly satisfied with their service. The support although consistently unfriendly, and at times rude to the point of being insulting, was prompt. The uptime and performance was excellent. But then about a month ago I noticed that new signups for one of my sites had ceased (this really hurt the business). Finally, in investigating the problem, I discovered that the multimedia upload capability was broken, crippling the site. I couldn't for the life of me troubleshoot the problem until after hours of frustration I discovered that the problem was that they (Blue Fur) had without warning disabled the exec() function in php which the operation of the site depended on. They claim that there was a notification about "security upgrades" that had been sent out but if I got it at all it went to the spam filter. I contacted support about the issue. The response lacked any hint of apology or remorse for practically killing one of my businesses, instead basically telling me to kiss off. I was, and still am furious over the treatment I received from BlueFur, formerly monsterhosting.ca and I DO NOT RECOMMEND them.

Agreed dude, its a risk you run when in a shared-hosting environment. Next time go with a VDS/VPS where YOU control the php.ini.
