Dedicated, non RedHat based O/S?
I'm looking for a new dedicated server that is not based on a RedHat O/S - no RHE, no Fedora, no CentOS. RHE is too expensive, Fedora has a new release about every week (joking but they are often) and CentOS is too old (2.4 based). I'm very knowledgeable in both SuSe and Solaris x86 but nobody seems to use those.
I would need >= 2GHz Intel or AMD processor 1GB memory >= 75GB disk >= 500 GB transfer / month Full dedicated - not VPS. Post 'em if you got 'em.

My first choice would be SuSe. I need a production caliber O/S that has a supported Java system. Most Linux's, and Solaris would be fine. I don't speak darkside so I do not want a Windows solution. FreeBSD is also out as the JVM for it is maintained by one person.

Stunbar,
We could offer you a Solaris dedicated machine with: P4 3.0Ghz Processor w/HT 1GB of RAM 120GB IDE Drive 900GB of Data Transfer 2 IP Addresses $325.98 setup $199.95/month As I realize that option is a bit pricey I could provide you with: Intel 1.7GHz Processor 1GB RAM 60GB IDE Drive 900GB Data Transfer 2 Ip Addresses $150 setup $175.95/month These would both be loaded with Solaris - hence the pricey setup fees. If you are interested let me know as these are custom quotes and you will not be able to find these options on our site. Regards, John "Exon" Pinkerton exon@exonnet.net http://www.exonnet.net |
