Good alternative to Rackspace?
Hey guys,

I'm looking to switch hosts asap.

Rackspace have been great but every little extra costs a fortune and I'm now paying a few thousands bucks a month and I'm sure I must be able to get the same package cheaper.

I do need 24 hour phone support. Below are some of the specs I currently have.

Hardware:

* Memory: 3GB DDR RAM
* Hard Drive: 73GB SCSI
* Hard Drive: 73GB SCSI
* Processor: Dual AMD Opteron 246 2.0 GHz

Services:

* PC Server Required: PC Server Required
* IP Allocation: 7 IPs
* Monitoring: RackWatch Platinum
* Transfer-Based-Bandwidth: 250GB (30GB incld.)
* Support: Fanatical Support
* Backup Client Software: Managed Backup Agent - Legato
* backup_type: Weekly Full + Daily Incremental
* OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4

I also have a database server with raid 5 with 73gig scsi with 4gb ram and slaver db server.

Any suggestions to a good alternative will be greatly welcomed.

Wow, you're getting ripped.

I'm offering a Xeon 3.0 GHz machine with 4GB of ram and 5 72GB 15K RPM drives in a RAID-5 for $79.99/mo. as a special right now. If that puts your current price into perspective.

Hey Paul,

I've hosted with AIT for the past few years now, they've been doing web hosting for a long time and they've got guys who know what they're doing. They've got some really good deals going on right now that are much better than what you're paying now, and they're pretty accomodating when it comes to custom needs.

You can find some of their "pre-packaged" plans at the AIT website. ait.com

You'll get a better idea by calling them at the Sales number though (at the top of the page). Hope you find what you're looking for!

If possible, I'd recommend going with thenynoc. They have great servers, and I hear they have an awesome network.
