Hosting - General Question

I am in the process of writing my first web site using HTML and a little bit of JavaScript.

My ISP in the UK is BT Interent and dont seem to have any help for home users wed site.

The purpose of the site is club/charity so dont want £5/month for a domain name and hosting.

I could use MoonFruit to build the site but that would take the fun out of using HTML/JavaScript.

I am quite happy to pay ~ £25/year for domain name and hosting. But I am at a lost in this area (domain name & hosting - I thought that my ISP would help!), so any links or information please.
