Hosting request for high latency customers

We are looking for a web hosting company that will be willing to work with us to optimize their server caching configuration to cater for our customers working on high latency internet links.

All we require is to enable "expiry" caching on things like images, css, etc. Some web apps have 100+ images on a single page. The caching setup at our current provider requires a request for each image. Imagine a latency of 0.5 seconds and max 2 tpc/ip ports (requests) and you can see why we have to wait upwards of 30 seconds for each page download even though everything is already cached client side. Disable image downloads in IE config and page loads fall to 4 secs...

We are willing to pay up to $50pm (our current rate) and require standard PHP5, XSL, XML and al the other goodies.

Lastly, if your company has a strong focus on web app development or web app hosting, then we would definately like to talk to you.

For that I would recommend a VPS or a VDS (same thing, different name).

You will get a decent VPS for that kind of money. I am not sure you will get a shared or reseller account where the host are to happy about changing the config for one customer only.
If you are interested I could give you a more accurate pricing depending on disk, bandwidth and type of site. For the configuration MikHoSoft have very good partners who only works with server optimization.
I would be more then happy to give you a quote for the work, it will be settled as a one-time payment for that work and then monthly for the VPS itself.

You will probably end up happier in the end if you get a dedicated server or virtual dedicated server

I think he needs a lot more than just expiry caching turned on.

Having a VPS or dedicated gives you the "freedom" to experiment until you find the settings that fits YOUR needs.

Most of the time specific settings are not good for the rest of the customer base.
Therefor my recommendation is to get a VPS/VDS or a dedicated.

For $50 usd / month the OP would get a good VPS that would handle that website.
