Inbound SMS (Text Message) service
Does anyone know of a service available in the US where I can sign up to have a cell number available for people to text that will then forward the message on to a web page or email address?
I'm not after a shortcode sms service, just a regular cell number that is available to all cell networks in the US. I'm also not after a 2 way service, inbound only. Cheers! |

To have SMS handled programmatically, there are 3 options:
1. Common short codes (CSC) 2. Virtual Mobile Numbers (VMN) 3. Sim Hosted Numbers (SMH) VMN's do not exist in the US, leaving you with either CSC or SMH. If you have the technical capacity to work with AT commands, you can host your own Sim card using a GSM modem or a GSM-enabled phone which plugs in to your computer. If not, there are companies (few and far) which can host them for you. If i remember correctly, SimpleWire offered this at extortionate rates. The more common approach are CSCs. Why would you not want to use a CSC? |
