Need cgi, PHP, and MySQL

I have got Godaddy, and Netfirms. I've had Bravenet. These are/were paid accounts. I'll just not say anything these sites except perhaps they may be good for plain web pages. I am looking for a hosting service i can say good things about. I do not want a root directory where I have to open up a www folder first. I need cgi, PHP and MySQL capabilities.

I will not pay to try something that has just be established. I think around 10 a month is a good price, but if I find a lot of great thing about a site through research, then I would be willing to pay more.

I have read a lot of what has been posted here and would like the latest recommendations. And if you are recommending your own site, please say so.

I am looking at my-e-space. Thanks for the reply. I could do with the minimum of bandwidth and space, 5 GB with less than 10,000 visitors a month would be more than enough. I have not yet use more than 10% of what I have subscribed to.

I just got an email from Yahoo. I don't thinks it had anything to do with this thread. I don't like GeoCities' free service but is their paid service any good? I hate to keep purchasing a couple months of different service just to find out if they are any good or not.

Edited: Ok, I just looked at my-e-space. The 5 GB I mentioned above was a bit much, just what some sites offer. A gig or less would be more that I will use for a long time. Let me talk to my Dad and see if I can try it for a couple months.

Ideally I would like service in the Southwest United States. I'm thinking Eastern Standard Time zone on the server clock will be very important.

Is there a specific reason for the extra requirement NevadaSam? Our servers are CST timezone.

It might not be a deal breaker. I do enjoy seeing the same time of upload in my FTP window as when I files were changed. Site I am preparing now and will be doing for the next four years will be local business and churches. I know once it goes on the web it is automatically world wide, but the target audience will be in Northern Georgia and the Southeast. I know were only talking milliseconds difference in access time, but with half the surfers here on dial up it makes a differences.

Right now I displease with my hosting because of what is happening with some sites that use Perl scripts. Most of the times they load and work great. At other times they won't load at all with IE and prompt to download the .pl script with Firefox (of course the script is not actually downloaded, just an empty file). And the www folder this hosting service has really makes it hard to keep my localhost and the web site the same.
