Need RootServer

Hello,

I am looking for a dedicated UNIX server.
This server should have:

- 100Mbit port
- unlimited traffic
- 80GB HDD or more

but not more than 160$ monthly. I would like to pay per paypal or bank transfer.

Maybe someone can make me an offer I can't refuse.

Hi,

thank you at first. I found a server I am looking for at fdcservers.net but they accept paypal over credit card only. But I need unmetered transfer. I think it won't be more that 2500Gb but I am not sure.

I would suggest reading fdcservers' policy on unmetered transfer. Also, I've heard that their network is very poor, and you'll be lucky to hit 5% of the possible transfer.

So, for my offers:

***AMD Athlon 1800+
512mb Ram
40 GB hard drive
5 ips
10 Mbps Unmetered (3300GB)
$109/month

AMD Athlon 2400+
512mb Ram
80 GB hard drive
5 ips
10 Mbps Unmetered (3300GB)
$119/month

***Intel P4 2.4 Ghz
512mb Ram
80 GB hard drive (FREE Upgrade to 120gb Hard Drive!)
5 ips
10 Mbps Unmetered (3300GB)
$129/month ($80 setup)

Intel P4 2.8 Ghz
512mb Ram
80 GB hard drive
5 ips
10 Mbps Unmetered (3300GB)
$139/month

***2xDual Xeon 2.ghz
1024mb Ram
250 GB hard drive
5 ips
10 Mbps Unmetered (3300GB)
$159/month ($124.99 setup)

Level3, NAC, Cogent Bandwidth Mix
Starred (***) offers can be made 100mbps unmetered for only $75 more!

I'm very inexperienced in it.

What does "10 Mbps Unmetered (3300GB)". Do I have 3300GB of transfer using a 100Mbit port?

When it is correct I would be interested in:

Intel P4 2.8 Ghz
512mb Ram
80 GB hard drive
5 ips
10 Mbps Unmetered (3300GB)
$139/month

But I'm not sure.

The 10mbps unmetered puts your server on 10mbps unmetered port; of course, 1000gb (burstable on 100mbps) transfer (double-able on quarterly payment) is available for the same price.

That would cost significantly more -- if you were planning to go with fdc, you can't burst anywhere near 10mbps (despite it being a 100mbps port), so you'll either need to increase your budget, or go with 95th percentile. 95th percentile bililng (including 10mbps) is available for only $150/mo more.

With your budget no way you can afford a unmetered 100mbps.
lpservers.com appears to be hosted @ GNAX. Do you have a rack @ GNAX? From what I've seen they do not charge $15/mbit as you suggest for bandwidth (you're technically offering 10mbits because 3TB+ is 10mbits), and since you're hosted on the premium network I'd think that they would charge at least $30/mbit for bandwidth. And if you really do get $30/mbit on your rack there (which is what I believe you have) how can you afford to offer quality support?

Pardon me if quote for the server you mentioned is not hosted at GNAX, but you really should include the network w/ pricing information.

BTW, to the OP, with FDC it's not 100mbit unmetered, it's actually only around 15mbits max. If you go over that for long periods of time they will cap you at 10mbits. I also hope that you realize that the max single thread connection (regular download without download manager) would be less than 300KBPS? And that's at max from what I've seen, it's usually below 100KBPS.

So, you're going to have a hard time pushing all that traffic at FDC and you will make your visitors very unhappy with the slow speeds.

Good luck to you, I'd suggest that you go for something with 2000GB transfer and choose a quality host. You may find some quality hosts here, but judging from what I've seen, most of the cheap offers here (the ones you need) are from kids pretending to be internet warriors .

ugh? Did you just call me an internet warrior...can you clarify who you were referring to as a kiddie host please. You really need to get your facts straight before you start pointing fingers at anyone here . most of the cheap offers here (the ones you need) are from kids pretending to be internet warriors. Please clarify to your standards who you think that is. I really dont care how long you have been in the industry and all that and ive seen your posts before . we take our selves very professionaly and were not just a "one night stand". We have actual techs working remotely, were not a 1 man show.

Webinsanity, you are insane. You have no grasp of the fact that someone may be hosted at a datacenter different from the offered services.
