2 Cool Affects Or Are They? Please Read

hey all,

i have made to pages with what i think are quite cool affects but as things go my "!THOUGHTS" of a good affect are usually a bit ....different!

could you please tell me what you think of the two affects on these two pages:

i think the catalogue thing could look quite good, although it's hard to tell without something on the pages!

i'm not so sure of the map thingy, i don't see the point to be frank, it's just another layer between the user and the information they want.

The map thing is useless in its current implementation. It might be better if the parent map was larger and had multiple points of interest and there were different child maps based on the mouse position over those points of interest. As is though, I don't even consider it "cool".

But the page turning does have a nice "wow that's neat" effect. But again, since I can't read the pages, it does nothing for the overal experience. Using this technique in conjuction with next / previous page links and in relation to an actual book would be very nice indeed.

Animated gifs are distracting and useless, to be frank.

its not a gif is DHTML!

I know what your saying about the map and the popup! As there is only one site in the UK for this company there may be no point in having it for that! But how about for the TAXI! i thought that this would be quite useful since they do not hav a website currently themselves.

if im at the top of the iframe (which is a bad idea in itself) then when i hover over the taxi link i only see the half box, then i have to faff about so i can see it.

I would have just put the information in the 'note' box itself, other than that i would have been inclined to create a new page. This would make the information much easier to access and use.

What am I supposed to be seeing when "hovering"?

Why do you need Javascript enabled to switch languages?
