Admin Interface

I'm in the process of designing an administration area interface for my next CMS. If any of you have seen CodeIgniter's documentation, you'll notice that this design is heavily influenced by it. What do you think of the colors and design of the components?

I have never seen CodeIgniter, but i like your colors.

I'm assuming there is a little more organization to it though than what you are showing...

Yes. What I'm showing is ONLY a mashup of different components that might be used in the end-product. The links, headings, forms, etc etc are all for display purposes only. There is no purpose or organization to them yet.

I like it. I wish I could make my own CMS.
I use wordpress.

Thanks. Learn PHP or ASP.NET and you'll be on your way. Trying to build a CMS is a great way of learning, so long as the code is properly reviewed and your mistakes are pointed out. For clarification though, WordPress is not a CMS, although it can be used as one. If you are interested in a system that really is a CMS, look into something such as Drupal or ExpressionEngine.

Me, well I've been coding PHP for a long time and I've built a lot of CMSs. I'm finally getting to a point where I understand what all of my clients need in a CMS. I feel its easier for them to use something catered specifically to their needs instead of using something bloated such as Drupal. Thats why I continue trying to refine my administration areas, because I want them to be as simple as possible, but have lots of flexibility.

Thanks! I've heard of Drupal- but I thought it was just like Wordpress. I might try it out. Since everyone wants to update there own sites this sounds like like it will make it easier.

I have bought PHP books. I even tried a tutorial to make a admin page and it didn't work- so I found a tutorial online and then it worked!

Someday I'll get it. When my 19th month old boy lets me and when I'm not nauseated from being pregnant! And when my husband doesn't complain that I'm always on the computer.
