blueprintgames.com
I'm currently redesigning the website for blueprint games. I feel the navigation is well done, and the layout is good, but I feel it's a bit boring. What do you guys think?

Im not sure if it is just my monitor, but your center links inside where the main content is, is too dark on my monitor. But that problem could just be on my monitor, since it is a very old monitor, otherwise it looks good.

i concur with The Little Guy... that dark blue link is not enough contrast against that medium blue background.
a little monochrome for my taste, you could go either with colors next to blue on the color wheel, or some opposite - or mix in a neutral/white. that red REALLY comes at you because it's the only thing NOT in the blue range. I don't mind the layout - like you said. HEre's a thought that just crossed my mind... if you started with a lighter background color (light blue or white), then you could consider using borders around your sections... or maybe your content boxes are white and the website background is sitll the med blue?... blueprints are full of straight lines, maybe you can get an image of one of the circles around a corner to include... etc. after all it's also a GAME site - should be fun... the lighter color would be conducive to images as part of the background. but then again, i personally just tend to prefer white backgrounds with the color added in. What do you think now? I've added a box around the side bars. That adds some more contrast to the colors. Do you think I should do the same for the news portal?

personally, i think it's an improvement. not so sure i would do the boxes around all the submenus (as opposed to the main menus) but whatever... you're right - that red REALLY is different. but IMO, it pulls me away from the rest of the text. - perhaps a little more black in the red - or maybe a burnt orange (but that doesn't really go with anything else)... i know you're playing with it - but right now the columns don't line up horizontally at the top. edit OOOH, I like what you did with the bold WAY better than the boxes. |

Yeah I think I'm done fiddling with it now. I'll adjust the red a bit, and line the boxes up.

The links are still black, did you change them back?

Reload the page when you have it open... you probably have it cached. they're definitely red (now) in my browsers. |
