I like it. flat and good to overview. probably you could find one more color that is not orange-ish to have some highlighting stuff for real pointers, that could give faster overview on the page, exspecially when having that much text on your page as you do
I gotta say I exspecially like your logo. Really good idea there and good workout on the idea as well

Not really for breaking the text up, but what I meant was that:

Your whole page is kept in several tones of orange. You could use a different color for certain parts of the text/words, so that if a viewer of your text spots those words gets already a quick overview of the info provided....

As for splitting the text up a little, you could as have it displayed in different columns. I can only give you one reference of a webdesign I did where I had a rather similar problem on how to split text, where I solved it the way you can view here(htmlcode seems to not work in that forum, well then I do it this way: http://www.immoexpert.at). I used several columns and some graphic. I would like to give you more reference pages, but the prob is that before that work I did not do any webdesign for ages and those references would all be out of date

regards, mithril

Right my new site is now online, not working yet but just general design. I think I need to improve the title and I need a barrier between my header and body (check out the help page, you will see what I mean).

to break the text up, just do as graphic designers do, break the page up into grids or columns.

To make an example, on the Homepage could be seperated into 4 columns of identical width. Use a recipe of 1 column on the left and 3 on the right (combined), the single left column could house the General Info you have, and the rest of the text on the combined 3 columns. Or 3 on the left and one on the right.

on the Newsletter page (plese note your navigation typo). As the page is fairly long and is structured, you could do a 1/4, 3/4 combo. the single column could be filled with local anchor links that will jump to different parts of the same page. I mean to say a table of contents could be placed on the left. After every topic a back to top link is provided for the user to return to the top of the page.

For the Training section, the left hand single column could be large MON, TUE, WED type header while the right hand side displays the activity info.

Closed for maintenance type annoucements could be placed on the homepage itself, maybe before or after the general info area, depending on importance of annoucement. Or just place it on the top end so people can't possibly miss it.

other aspects...
since its a swimming club, blue would be a natural choice for the dominent color of your site, is this orangy color the club color?

lastly, you could bold the link the user is currently viewing, as a visual location cue.

Just some tips, hope that was useful. Anyway nice job.

Thanks guys, the orange is the club colours, I would not have chosen them myself but they requested so.. Anyway I will play with the columns thing and also what about my new site? If you visit the help section on it then you can see that the text is too close to the title, any ideas? Thanks Jack.
