Critique: www.ByPasstheLine.com
Hey Guys,
I'm back and I've got another site for critiquing. I have recently revamped the site and I'm looking for some feedback. Not all of the links are currently active, but most of the site is working. What are your opinions on locking a Forum and requiring a user to log in first? www.bypasstheline.com Thanks guys. RedDog

The idea is cool, but the coverage area isn't defined... I frequent a couple of websites like this when I'm planning a night on the town. Something that I've noticed for sites like this is that they have to base their adverts/info on a specific location... and you should do so prominently, because I wouldn't have looked so hard for locational info if it wasn't a critique... otherwise it looks good, the design is clean... slightly invalid but you probably don't care about that with this type of site.
Good Luck, A fellow Torontonian...

Thanks man. The first thing I really worry about is design (being a designer)...so thanks for that compliment.
I will try to find a way to 'show' its from Toronto and the surrounding area. I was thinking of putting a drop down on the right hand side, above the google ads, where it would say something like "select your area" and have Toronto, Richmondhill, Thornhill, Mississauga, etc. Other then that, do you have any suggestions for showing that its from Toronto? (I'm scared I might limit the site to Toronto and I kind of want to get it out to as many areas as possible). Thanks again for takin the time to respond. RedDog GO LEAFS GO! |

Come on, leave a little more than that.
That's not gonna tell me anything. What made you run away? Was it JC Chasez? haha I'm looking to make it good for everyone who likes to party in Toronto. If you think there's something missing let me know so I can add it. If you think there's something there that I should take away, say it. But runing away isn't tellling me a thing. Speak up ![]() |

Not a new user spamming, I looked at it and it was super busy, i didnt know what the page was about what was part of the page and what was banners, the bright flashing colours confused me and it looked like one of those damn search pages that get installed as your homepage every once in a while.

Thanks for the input. I agree, it is busy, but I guess for now I'll just have to hope the headers are good enough to divide things...and I"m not too worried about it all blending in cause there will be a better chance of people clicking on banners
![]() The main things I believe are big enough and can still catch the attention needed, then the smaller things are there if someone wants to take the time to browse. Thanks again. |

like the setup. very active. maybe calm down the flashing white piece. i like flash. i like it especially in small amounts like this, but the flash reminds me of the annoying blinking text from years and years ago (the years are ticking away). take a look at espn.com and their euro 2004 flash displays. yes, big euro soccer fan here. there's a link for euro 2004 and they have a game cast live link for live soccer matches. their intro is simple and slick for displaying text. take a look. good job on the site.
