First Impression - Which Site Wins?

About two years ago I set up a website for a client who owns a vitamin store. THe site has been doing very well traffic wise but not sales wise. In other words lots of visitors, but few sales. I have suggested to my client that he should look at revising the "look" of his site (not my original design by the way) to make it look better and maybe that will turn lookers into buyers. I told him that were a hundred people to look at his site and those of some others I would be willing to bet maybe 10% would say his site looked the best. That all being said, please take a moment and look at these sites -

Site 1

Site 2

Site 3

Site 4

Site 5

In short I'd care to know what site you think looks the best and the worst. THanks.

In my opinion site 5 looks better and also the inclusions of the logos like hacker safe, visa, master card, the links & text at bottom contribute much to increase the user's trust in site and the user's good first impression of the website.

3 is the worst and 4 is the best in my opinion.

Ok, you win the "prize". I have been telling my client (Site 3) that he needs a serious makeover. Why did you choose that as the worst? Thanks. Tom

I also agree that site nr 4 looks the best.

Site nr 1 and 5 scream attention everywhere: you don't know where to look.

Site nr 2 is ok, but I guess this is about 'why nr 3 is bad'.

So:
  • The welcomeblob has to much fontsizes, useless info, some useful info, it looks cluttered and messy.
  • The online store categories list is too long. It should be ordered in two levels - not one.
  • The names on the tabbed horizontal links are not very informative. I also don't know what use they have.
  • The specials are a good touch. They only need to look a tat prettier and cleaner. Maybe a bit more organized.
  • What does the company slogan try to bring over? "You always get more" = you are addicted to them? You are manipulated into buying more than you initially wanted? I would go for another slogan.
  • The elements of the pages need to be lined out better vertically.
  • The website doesn't look finished. I seems to float in white and need some closure in lines (don't know how to put this exactly).
  • The red statement in the welcomeblob is gooed: I know exactly what the store is for.

Hope this can win your possible cliënt over

I'm a little late but I chose 3 as the worst because it looks old, flat and I agree with

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Yup site 3 blows. Other ones are all kind of similar but OK. Hard to pick one over the other.

I think site 1 and site 2 are equally impressive. If I was looking for vitamins those are the two I would respond to the best. If site 4 or site 5 had a good deal I would still give them a second look. Site 3 in my opinion is the low man on the totem pole.
