Good consumer software site?
I'm looking for a model for a good consumer (and sales) oriented consumer software site. We're trying to re-do our site (see www.rampellsoft.com) but have no idea what direction to go in.
Free advice would be appreciated but we'd also be willing to pay for in-depth consulting on this. Please send me a PM for info. -Alex |

Some references:
http://www.redhat.com/ http://ems-hitech.com/index.phtml http://www.metaproducts.com/ http://www.corel.com/ http://www.symantec.com/ http://www.adobe.com/ The text "Building Software" doesn't really say anything. At first glance I thought you make tools for people who built software. Maybe something like, "We make little helpers for your computer" ... just a suggestion Also the News section should be placed at the bottom of the page. The software updates should be incorporated into the main product descriptions. For example Type Recorder v2 updates should definately be included on the product feature area next to the large product box as something like "Type Recorder X 2" BTW the product boxes are too large, because your page width is narrow, it makes your site look cramped. Checkout Redhat.com and of course apple's site (http://www.apple.com/software/) and Adobe.com Lastly I think you dont have to stick to the a 2 column rule site wide. Your layout design should be more flexible. Yes it means a few more templates, but it makes a world of difference in the end. |
