hey guys (and gals too if you're here), got a new design i want some feedback on.

but before y'all rip into it:
1) it is not firefox friendly yet, will be soon
2) it was designed in 1024x768, please let me know of any resolution issues.
3) my first completly CSS design. not a table to be found on this page
4) i'm not married to the fade in thing, just trying it out. thats what testing is all about right?
5) there are no other pages right now, just wanna get this design down before moving to content
6) and just generally, how does it look? i'll take no offense, i want it to look good.

edit: url change:
http://lowcountry-multi.dyndns.org/

thanks people!

1) make it firefox friendly, it sorta works anyway
2) looks ok on 1280x2048 to me
3) good
4) its ok, but snap it - its waaaayy to long
5) ok
6) looks ok but borders look a little nasty and I don't like the gaps in the submenus showing the background content in between

HTH,
computer

ok, update:

1) made the outside border go away, didnt like it.
2) made the fade go much faster, does a little hiccough thing in firefox, will look into that
3) fixed sizing issue. will look ok in higher res now.

thanks!

Just viewed it , everything looks fine. Just a suggestion , would it look better if the layout was the middle of the page?

looking a lot better now, to answer your center question doing:

<body align="center">

might work, I'm not sure with CSS. I'd still like it to not show the background text/lines through the gap in the menu. perhaps if you set a 2px high grey box between each button or something similar it might grey it out?

A little flat?

Hi,

I have to say i found it a little flat and I disliked the JS style menu's, they look flat and unapealing to the eye, although fast to browse.

Hope it all goes well!

thank alot everyone for your feedback.

wellandpower, i don't want you to design my site for me or anything, but what do you think would make it pop alittle more? that pic in the background is eventually gonna rotate randomly with pics from around the charleston area. more colors? make it taller? thats what i was thinking. its too squat.

thanks again!

Functionality - except for the js menus, nothing really works yet. And the js menus don't look very eye-appealing.

Layout - i like the layout, but again, it isn't very pretty. Try adding more padding to the content section so that the text doesn't run all the way up to the edge. Try finding a new javascript for prettier menus, I know there's lots of em.

Logo - The logo is nice, but you could add some more color to the rest of the white or should I say black space on the top of the content, to the right of the logo. One filter from photoshop would do the trick.

I really can't expand on this much. There isn't much there to comment on. Keep workin' on it.

Code:
BODY {
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
}
