Hey,

I would appreciate any feedback on my latest creation, ConnectMeet.com.

The website is basically a variation of the MySpace.com Face-Pic.com sites, with some added unique features. The main selling point is the web page editor, allowing you to customize your page without any HTML knowledge in 'real-time'...

Feedback on any angle of the site is appreciated - most of the features you have to be logged in to use unfortunately...

Thanks for your time,

-Ross

[edit]

After reading my own post I've decided I was too vague...

I would like criticism particularly on the color scheme of the website - but bear in mind the user can change every aspect of it to their satisfaction...and the site is limited to its layout due to how practical it needs to be. It is also aimed at being 'fun looking' hence the bright colors (in the case of the green, maybe a few tones too birght )

I would also ask about the ease of navigation, but you have to be logged in to get most of that...

The only other thing is the loading time - if I could get feedback from people with various connection speeds I would appretiate it.

The general layout and design looks pretty nice.
Some 'things n stuff':
  • You really should consider validating your HTML and CSS... you have an impressive number of errors at present.
  • You should use CSS for layout.
  • What's that little arrow doing on the right of the date? Am I meant to be staring at my scrollbar now?
I'd suggest avoiding a fixed width too, but I wonder if that design would look a bit odd/empty when stretched out to the full width of a big screen.

Incidentally, I finally posted on this thread again. Don't know if those ideas are any use.

thanks for your input - I have to say I'm quite ashamed at my amount of HTML errors I guess I better get onto that right away...

Unfortunately I only discovered layouts in CSS a few weeks back and the thought of changing the layout over nearly pushed me over the edge :/ - if the website ever takes off enough for me to need to save every byte of bandwidth I'll have to look into changing the layout over to CSS - but presently I don't think the amount of time it would take me to alter it would be worth it

The fixed width is a bit of a necessity, I tried letting it expand to the full page width but you're right, it made it look 'empty'...

The little arrow at the top of the page I don't really even notice I really don't know what state of mind I was in when I made it, but I kinda' like it

Thanks for replying to my other thread, I had almost lost hope - ill take another look into it now

Any more suggestions appreciated...

-Ross
