Hey guys -- rough draft of a website here just looking for feedback. I used to design websites for money (college student). Took a break for a while, going to try and see if I can get back into it. I just put it on tripod till my registration is done so ignore the banners as best you can.

Jeez, those banners are a wicked obstruction to your site.
Though aside, I think you could stand to use some more contrast on your text vs background color. Also needed is some more graphics. Your site's quite plain at the moment excluding those banners and needs some livening up. G'luck. |

I agree with MaxM. Its hard to find the site under all those ads. I would suggest adding some more graphics and making the content area a bit wider.
I know this is not the right place but www.mfhosting.com do good free hosting and i am pretty certain there are no ads at all. |

Wow, get some host without banners. Thoses banners are killing the awesomeness of your site. I'm sure it would look perfect without thoses banners. Maybe I could find a friend to host your site!

That was just a test host guys -- I said that I had to finish registering with my host. During the wait I went ahead and changed the host and added a bit more:

http://www.hut.fi/u/hsivonen/doctype http://www.alistapart.com/articles/doctype/ http://www.juicystudio.com/choosing-doctype/ I recommend the HTML 4.01 Transitional Doctype. However I strongly discourage the use of deprecated elements like font and center in favor of CSS. Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> http://www.w3.org/QA/2002/04/valid-dtd-list.html
