Please could you review this for me.

http://server6.web-mania.com/users/...anch/indian.php

it's still very much in development and I don't have the finalised graphics from the printers who do the paper menu of the guy I'm doing this for. It's going to be the complete takeaway menu of this guys four(!) interlinked fast food places.

The data is ALL coming from a MySQL backend so he can change and add special offers periodically and stuff like that.

This is my very first attempt at a proper commercial site and I do want to do a good job that might lead to future opportunities, so I'd apprieciate ANY and ALL comments.

<dons armour to protect feelings/>

Thanks.

Just a couple of quick things:

First, the site needs to be scrolled horizontally when viewed at 800 * 600
Second, Consider using an external CSS stylesheet rather than putting all the css in each page.

Apart from that - the best compliment I can give you is that it is exactly like a paper menu that you get through the door. It's organised nicely with prices. I would however like to see it when you have the appropriate graphics - is he hoping to set up an online booking type thing?

Apart from that - if you're after a career and serious work then your code should validate I guess:

But I do like it and think you've done a good job on the layout :-)

Thanks for that, I'll change my res and look again at it, I may consider putting the graphic right at the top of the first table column and intersperse the Meal Deals into the other two columns to save on page width and move the right hand blocks right down to the bottom of the page and make them into kind of a footer.

Unfortunately a lot of the code won't validate yet, because to get around IE's limitations of only allowing hover styles on anchor tags, I've got block level elements (tables and divs) inside in-line elements (anchor tags). That's how the drop-down menu works.

I'm not convinced that I even need that kind of menu with the links to each section of each menu, what do you think?

Thanks in advance for any further thoughts...

John.

Edit: Oh and the styles will all be put into external style sheets when I finalise the design.

*Bump*

And I'd appreciate some more comment now I've re-vamped this page at least to work at 800x600.

Also, how would I go about making this page centered to get rid of the wide left hand border? I've used a fair bit of absolute positioning (the left hand div, the middlediv for the actual price list, and even the holder for the drop-down menus).

Thanks,

John.
