Ok, first the link: Click Here
I've been working on skinning this political journal for my friend (watch out the content is strong) for about a week and would like some critique on the basic layout and design, and get some outside input. Thanks, -Proph3t |

I like this, it's clean coded, attractive, and conversational. It is essentially a blog, however, I have noticed that you recieve a lot of really good comments. People that have taken the time to think out a response to your idea that is longer than "hey this is cool website" That being said, I would definately suggest some type of user system, becuase, as I just learned the hard way -- you can't edit your comments.
Another suggestion would be regarding semantics, there is no true outline for this documents and the alt attribute for the header should read similarly to the title of the link. 'header' isn't very descriptive. Regarding the outline, there can be no <h2> without <h1> this makes a difference, if you are going to create a page layout it has to make sense and flow in a logical manner especially if you wish to use heading tags properly. Thanks for the helpful reply. There actually is a user system, but as I can see, its fairly hard to spot (under "Other" there is the register link). Later today when I get home I will work on that.
Thanks for the tips regarding the semantics, I have never really looked into this, but now that you point it out I can see what you mean. |

I didn't notice the 'user area', so maybe bringing sight to this would be helpful also. Make it a more prominent part of the page.
Also, you can use images as a header, just make sure that your alt text is specified accordingly. <h1><img /></h1> that would be semantic, if you want more info regarding the use of images as headers... there is a decent article here http://www.maxdesign.com.au/present...mages/index.cfm (ack cfm) |
