Please read through the welcome thread at the top of this board, for information on how to post a thread in this forum. Your thread title should be the name of the site you'd like reviewed; I have changed it this time for your convenience.

Thanks drgroove!

Sorry for my mistakes.

>2. Please post the general outline of your site in the thread, including what it is meant to do, its focus(es) and its goals.

Site for autodealers there they can post an auto & make an auto auctions.

>3. Please check it first with the W3C Validator, URL

Site has 300 errors on home page, I do not think that this validator is right place to check sites. I will spend rest of my life trying to fix "errors".

>4. Please post which part you want us to critique, be it the design, layout, functionality, navigability, spelling or generally everything.

I think I have minor problems with design, layout & navigability.

Please advice.

Dennis

Don't sweat it. I'll have a look @ your site after work today, and let you know my thoughts.

Good luck.

Wow. What a great looking site.

Since your site looks so good, I'm going to dig in deep and really find its issues.

The navigation is clear - iconography backs up the functionality of each button without being obstructive.

Javascript could have been employed in the picture gallery for each auto, though - I'm too used to being able to simply mouseover images and see the 'blowup' for them. Alternately, javascript could have been used so that when you click on another thumbnail, the main image is swapped out w/o having to reload the page.
e.g.: http://www.autosndeals.com/ur/ur,,_...id,,347.ne.aspx

Also, the space on the left side of the car is wasted - you should have content about each vehicle there. Why should I buy this car? Specs alone don't sell. Nor do I have any incentive to scroll down the page to see the specs. Give me a reason.

The site moves quickly, even the listing pages w/ lots of images. Good job.

The lack of a very visible search engine is disconcerting. There are 2 kinds of web surfers - clickers and searchers. I'm a searcher. If I don't see a 'search' box, I get frustrated. I found the 'Advanced Search' link, but you're better off putting a search box w/ an 'advanced search' link somewhere up at the top of each page - upper LH or RH corners, above the main nav bar on the right, etc.

Also, not everyone wants an Advanced Search. Frankly, I can't stand forms like this:
http://www.autosndeals.com/searchex.aspx
You need to build a smart, googlesque search on your site. I want to be able to type in 'BMW' and have this thing give me some BMW listings. Advanced Searches are for computer geeks, not customers.

Why do these pages look exactly the same?
Dealer Specials
all vehicles
Just listed
Aside from a different nav tab, I have no idea what distinguishes these cars. You need to tell me that. Even a 1 sentence line wrapped in an <h5> would do it. Something. Talk to me about these cars. Wow - dealer specials? What makes them so special? Are they lower in price? Cars that the managers like? Stuff you're dying to get rid of? Scratch and dents? Whats up w/ these cars?

Menu bar looks out of wack to me, is something missing in between "Cars" and "Smartbuys"? Seems like there is just enough space there to insert another image.

With regards to the validation... You used Microsoft Visual Studio 7.0 to make the site, there is no way it will ever validate. MS doesn't really take much note of HTML standards, this is proven by IE and its horrid rendering of HTML and XHTML.
