This is my first site for anyone other than myself. The owner seems to like it so I guess it's a success.. but what do you think? Have a look around if you have time and tell me anything you think is annoying, needs changing, or any other comments you might have.
Much appreciated. |

IMO, this site does not look like a professional site. It lacks feel and design. And a question, does this site uses frames? If it is, I would suggest removing it.

Whatcha got against frames? Just thought it'd be useful so everytime the menu needed changing I wouldn't have to go around every page.
Oh and i'm not bitching, just giving all the facts; The client requested a "friendlier site" than what you'd consider to be a professional site.. never did ask why. Observations i've made myself..

Why frames are bad. You can achieve the same by using a serverside scripting language. Look into php includes or SSI inlcudes etc. So drop the frames and drop the splashpage. Another issue is that you have 3 different pages with contact form, could be confusing for users. Instead of Enquirier maybe Support is a better option, but you ought to have more info on the page and not just a contact form. On the product page, don't use pop-up. |

Squire 212 has got a point there. If you are producing professional sites, you really should get rid of the frames.
The code is not properly written and fails W3C Guidlines, here are a list of faults: For the frames page check here: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A//www.cincinnatiparts.co.uk/index2.htm For the main page check here: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbo....co.uk/main.htm For the navigation page check here: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A//www.cincinnatiparts.co.uk/menu.htm The W3C HTML validation service is used to help developers write good code. Use the information provided by the service to fix your code. I only checked three elements/pages of your site and there were many errors. You need to go 'back-to-basics' and learn HTML (doctypes etc). Once you are happy with HTML, learn XHTML and CSS, and learn them well. When you get to that point, offer services for money! Whilst your client may be happy with the site, most clients I have encountered would not be. It really doesn't look at all professional. I do not mean to sound harsh, but you really do need to go back to basics. Forget PHP etc for a while and concentrate on getting the HTML right. Hope this helps, Duncan ![]() |
