got the art from some designer guy this band likes to work with - overall not bad, but i want your opinion - I went ahead and sliced it up added rollovers - basic stuff. I'm doing the CMS for this site so I won';t have any direct control over the design, but I want critiques so that I can get some perspective on how to do all the little graphics and stuff. I am not an artist.

Dude, you've posted here before, you should know not to use tables for layout. (unless of course html is also out of your control).

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to work within the designer's HTML for the CMS stuff

I wanted to do smarty - but apparently, this designer is whack.

By the little graphics - I mean the buttons, colors, content area headers - all the little stuff that I'm gonna employ.

What I want to know is, is this design good? and should i run with it or request some changes to the look?

Like I said, I'm no Art guy -- How would you change the look of this site?

I say that for the text content you have two colours, grey for the majority of it and that sky blue thats used in the graphics for links and headers.

As for the layout, how much content are you going to have? If you wan't to use a bit of padding then that space doesn't really have enough for more than 200-250 words.

I really really don't like that navagation and overall I can't see what the point of most design features are but if random capitilisation is what the bands into then you'll just have to live with it.

you know tree i really dont undersatnd why tables are so bad. i use them in every design i make and they look exactly the same as css. anyway i think that the design itself is pretty good. the header is nicely constructed but i want to see what your content area is going to be like. also i quite like how you used random capitalization on your font. it sets it apart. i like it.

I have never said that there is anything wrong with tables, I have however commented on how they are not appropriate for layout. Here's a link...

That link is great. I forwarded it to an entire interactive department. Kudos. Granted, thgey probably all hate their lives right now-- but, no pain no gain.

I like it. I can't ever make mine that smooth. I always use Iframes in all of mine.

There's a big white space in the bottom half!
