Hi All

Im in the middle of creating a new website, its a website that tells you of the best DVD bargains/miss-prices around the web, most activity would come mainly from the forum. The website is now live im just trying to finish of some of the main functionality of the website

But Im trying to get the front page of the website looking good, I'm quite happy with the colours, I just think the menu system needs changing or some real work as it doesnt seem to stand out and seems very plain.

I wanted to keep the design clean looking, but thought i'd need an expert opinion.

I really like it. It's clean looking. I'd put at the top a small box though above todays bargains, explaining the site, etc.

The menu looks fine to me. You could put the menu along the top in the same bit as the "Welcome..." bit, centered. And use the left section for submenu, etc.

It'd be good if you could skin phpBB to match the rest of the site. You could on the phpBB pages, drop the right hand bar, and use the menu section you currently have as a submenu for like the login, private messages, view new posts, etc.

I think it's just fine. The only thing I can think to suggest is perhaps trying to change the top bars color from the slight lighter shade of gray to the bluish color used you've used on your text links. Should you do this, you may also want to invert the black text to white or another light color.

great site. I love the simplicity and easy navigation. I really don't have any suggestions. But good work. Maybe more content along the left and right. It just looks rather empty.

its too simple for my taste, i like eye candy.

I like the colors, simple and classy.

I would drop the bold blue links though, they seem rather out of place on the website.
If you wish to use blue, I would use the blue found in the forums.

The forums again are simple and classy.

Still trying to get this menu system right tried quite a few combinations, im not sure if its the colors or if its the font it just doesnt look right?

hows the best way to get more input on a forum? I seem to be having a lot of visitors but no seems to reply to any of the posts.

Your site is nice, neat and looks very sophisticated. But, its a shop, or at least a shop directory... it should be designed to look like one... the advert and the "About Us" section should contain your deal of the week with a pic of the dvd the new and old price and how much they are getting off, that sort of thing... at the moment you can't really tell its a place to buy.

2nd point, you shouldnt have about 3months of dvd bargains listed all the way down the page thats just annoying to visitor, have todays (or this weeks/month etc) and a link to view past deals like you do now.

These changes i feel would ensure that the visitor/customer can always see your/your associates deals. Adverts should be there but in sidebars and not taking up prime space which you can use to catch people's attention rather than advertise someone else, if you get people into the site they will click on the ads dont worry about it so much.
