I have been working on this asp. Site for almost two years now. I would like to know what other asp programmers and or web page authors thought of it. All criticism welcome.

icky frames and scrolling on them at that. the pictures don't look like they go together or aren't finished or something.
Try some position:fixed; for standards compliant browsers and in IE, well you just can't do it without the frames which will piss people off who bookmark your pageS. Last edited by acidfourtyfive : May 8th, 2005 at 01:56 PM. |

Well, the overall layout isn't bad. Your text never goes very wide, which is good for human readability. Things seem to be organized fairly well also. You make good use of headers for each box (barring one) to give readers a quick idea of what they're looking at. This is a very good thing. Don't forget, most people are lazy when it comes to browsing web sites and the more information you can give them with a small amount of effort on their part, the better they will like your site and the more they will take in.
Unfortunately, a large part of this good design is negated by the graphics that you're using. The gradients really need to go. While using complimentary colors together can work really well, it's best if used subtly, because it's effect is very strong. All of the energy coming from your page makes me want to leave almost immediately. The gradients also make the text very hard to read, and that's exactly what you don't want. Remember web surfers are lazy, they won't try to read it for long. You use two different types of text boxes, one that has a full background and one with just a header and the text floating on the main background under it. Have you decided when and where each text box is to be used? If they serve a specific purpose they can be helpful to the viewer to give them an idea of what their looking at. IE, short, quick pieces of information in one type and more detailed in another. However, if they're used on a whim, they can be confusing. Think of these from an orginization standpoint more than aesthetically. It seems like they're being used well so far. Lastly, your main header could use a bit of touching up. The text has visibly suffered from jpg compression. You could try separating the area with text from the area with monitors. The monitors could stay as a jpg and the text would turn into a gif or png. Not only would this make things look a bit nicer, there's a good chance it would reduce the size of the images as well, meaning that the site loads faster and you pay less for hosting overages. Overall I feel the site has a good potential, but it's not quite there yet. |

You have som enice features and well alyed out navigation, but I think you have a long way to go before your presentation is up to par.
Frames have got to go. Your homepage: You should separate the text from the image in your top banner. This would be more search engine friendly and would look better. No reason for text to suffer from jpeg compression. The text box on the right with the radiant gradient need to be readjusted. I can't read it. Brows=browse, feature=features, FREE Free=Free (dont repeat) Less Banned Items I have popups disabled and I didn't see what popped up nor did I want to. If its important info then it has not been presented. If its an Ad, it would annoy your visitors and they won't come back. Spelling mistakes and grammar errors abound. I agree with all the comments made so far.
Popups really annoy me too. I've never revisited a website which forced a popup on me. |
